three wishes - the pierces

We'd be so less fragile
If we're made from metal
And our hearts from iron
And our minds from steel
And if we built an army
Full of tender bodies
Could we love each other
Would we stop to feel

And you only want three wishes:
One to fly the heavens
One to swim like fishes
And then one you're saving for a rainy day
If your lover ever takes her love away

You say you want to know her like a lover
And undo her damage, she'll be new again
Soon you'll find that if you try to save her
It will lose her anger
You will never win

And you only want three wishes:
You want never bitter
And all delicious
And then one you're saving for a rainy day
If your lover ever takes her love away

You only want three wishes:
One to fly the heavens
One to swim like fishes
You want never bitter
And all delicious
And a clean conscience
And all it's blisses
You want one true lover with a thousand kisses
You want soft and gentle and never vicious
And then one you're saving for a rainy day
If your lover ever takes her love away

what is the world coming to?

It scares me that people are willing to do just about anything to get money nowadays. Anything for a lump of cold hard cash.

*shudders*

What happened to lemonade stands, car washes (even that is pushing it, in my opinion) and honest WORK?!

Selling your used underwear, and charging extra for EXTRA SERVICES? That's just disturbing. See link.

And what about the case where the 18-year old auctioned off her VIRGINITY? See link.

WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?!

If me not getting this way of earning money means I'm old-fashioned or plain conservative I'm fine with that.

More than fine with that.

carrie underwood - ever ever after

Storybook endings, fairy tales coming true
Deep down inside we want to believe they still do
And a secret is taught, it's our favourite part of the story
Let's just admit we all want to make it too

Ever ever after
If we just don't get it our own way
Ever ever after
It may only be a wish away

Starting your fashion, wear your heart on your sleeve
Sometimes you reach what's real just by making believe
Unafraid, unashamed
There is joy to be claimed in this world
You even might wind up being glad to be you

Ever ever after
Though the world will tell you it's not smart
Ever ever after

The world can be yours if you let your heart
Believe in ever after

No wonder your heart feels it's flying
Your head feels it's spinning
Each happy ending's a brand new beginning
Let yourself be enchanted, you just might break through

To ever ever after
Forever could even start today
Ever ever after
Maybe it's just one wish away
Your ever ever after
Ever ever ever after

Oh, for ever ever after

holidays

Okay. So that's why my tagboard has been dead, but I honestly didn't realise it has been more than a week since I last blogged!

Got my new adaptor Monday morning even before I got up, thanks to the Dell people who came to my house bright and early to ensure my suffering did not go on for another day. But now my speakers aren't working, oh no! Looks like I'll have to give them another call... No, it's not because I accidentally hit MUTE (No thanks to Chin Yu for even suggesting that) because it works when I plug my earphones in. Currently enjoying my Christmas songs by plugging my earphones in and increasing the volume to its maximum. A temporary solution, but still a solution to last me for the weekend since it is now past 5 on a Friday...
Went to work for 2 days and quit, with permission from my parents. Work was as a promoter for Action City in City Square. I actually enjoyed it, especially the part where I get to play with the interesting items I sell and play with little kids who are easily amused with a mini fan blowing in their faces. Alas, the hours were too long for me to handle, being from 10 am to 10 pm with half an hour for lunch and dinner. By the 2nd day I could no longer stand on the heel of my feet or stand up straight. No kidding. Mum gave permission to quit after she came to fetch me on my first night and was suprised I had to stand the whole time. What kind of job she envisioned me having I have no idea....

It's been a productive 2 days following my resignation from my short-lived job, got to spend half a day with Celine before she left for South Africa and played 2 hours of Wii with Fangi (we completed every dance in the game "Dancing With The Stars"!) AND got 2 books as Xmas presents from my two darlings, although Celine insisted on wrapping the present and only giving it to me on Xmas day itself. That's already 3 books I'm definitely getting (and enjoying) for Christmas, the other being from Weiyi (who has also insisted on wrapping it).

Today was spent comparing prices for hard drives and webcams in a PC fair in Persada convention centre (the existence of which I only knew about today) with Colin and Nick. Walked over to CS for lunch with Fangi and Weiyi, at yet another HongKong style restaurant! Lunch was filled with much stories and jokes about man boobs, as well as camera dropping stunts and picture taking... Split up after lunch, when we 3 girls went shopping and Nick left for (yet another) cruise and Colin went to catch a movie.
*random story today at PC fair* Colin and I are checking out scanners. Nick is off talking to an ex-classmate. Promoter: How about this Canon 4-in-1? It comes with a free cinema card so if as a couple, the 2 of you can get discounts when watching movies. Colin: *turns to me* Eh not bad ah? Go together! Me: *shoves hand in front of her* Go with Nick! Stay away from me! Stay at least 3 feet away from me!!!! Promoter: *realises we aren't a couple and shies away*

Yes Colin, I am still traumatised by it.

Picture time!

Dell charger, anyone?

V. v. annoyed with my laptop right now. Or my charger to be exact, which has decided to not charge. Which results in me not being able to use my laptop since NOONE else in the house has a DELL laptop. Nope. 3 IBMs and 1 Dell, and the Dell charger decides to break down. Hence yours truly was deprived of her laptop for 2 days. 2 DAYS!! Cold turkey much? Finally got it charged today, thank goodness. Still looking for the warranty to get my charger fixed though =(

One good thing from not using my laptop: I'm doing very well on my cross stitch! Stop snickering, people. I actually do girly stuff! Like drooling over hot guys and swooning in cinemas and loving Taiwanese dramas. So yeah, more than halfway done, so I might actually finish this one =)

Still not working yet, since the boss has yet to inform me when I'm to go and start work... Hmmmm.....

It's raining............

A very happy birthday to Wei Yang, I'm a day late but I'm blaming it on my charger, heh. Here's a nice video of the birthday boy being patriotic, enjoy =p

So in love in this song now

You’re in my arms
And all the world is calm
The music playing on for only two
So close together
And when I’m with you
So close to feeling alive

A life goes by
Romantic dreams will stop
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
So close was waiting, waiting here with you
And now forever I know
All that I wanted to hold you
So close

So close to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
And now you’re beside me and look how far we’ve come
So far we are so close

How could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
We’re so close
To reaching that famous happy end
And almost believing this was not pretend
Let’s go on dreaming for we know we are
So close
So close
And still so far

When I need you
Just close my eyes and I'm with you
And all that I so want to give you
It's only a heart beat away

When I need love
I hold out my hands and I touch love
I never knew there was so much love
Keeping me warm night and day

Miles and miles of empty space in between us
A telephone can't take the place of your smile
But you know I wont be traveling for ever
It's cold out, but hold out and do like I do

When I need you
Just close my eyes and I'm with you
And all that I so want to give you babe
It's only a heartbeat away

It's not easy when the road is your driver
Honey, that's a heavy load that we bear
But you know I won't be traveling a lifetime
It's cold out but hold out and do like I do
Oh I need you

When I need you
I hold out my hands and I touch love
I never knew there was so much love
Keeping me warm night and day

holidays!

Finally been doing something with my holidays! Got my results yesterday, which means this is now officially my holidays! And that I'll be a 2nd year come Feb!

Got a job yesterday, have yet to start work though. Working as a sales girl in City Square, hope it goes well, since I have almost no working experience.

First visit to Danga Bay since it was completed way back in Form 4! Thanks to Nick for bring me and Yuan Xiang there... Much much bigger than I thought, and pretty interesting too! Had satay, yum.....

Went out for a movie today with Celine, decided only at 1.45 pm and immediately went to get ready for the 2.30 pm showing of "Enchanted", luckily we both get ready real fast... Movie was awesome, from Giselle's singing to the cute little girl Morgan to "I get blown away by romance" Nancy. Not forgetting the amazing Patrick Dempsey. 2 hours well spent, and was frequently punctuated with much swooning and "OMG, he's so cute/hot/handsome!!" I liked how smooth the transition was from animation to real life, especially the apples part. Great movie, 5 stars from me! (One whole star was for Patrick Dempsey). After that it was to my second home a.k.a. Cel's humble abode. Banana and chocolate chip muffin *drools* and Son Mee for dinner, looks like I'm going to be gaining weight this holidays! At least we did spend some time "exercising" using the Wii.

Tired now, so here's where it ends. But before I leave, here are some videos of the advertisements in the theater today!

Actually didn't want to put this here, but it was too funny not to! Hiro lookalike alert!

Celine and I agreed we would be doing the exact same thing all day if we had this SLR too.

GTA + Coke = an amazing advertisement!

Plus! Some quotes from the movie "Enchanted"

Giselle: Nobody has been very nice to me.
Robert: Yeah, well, welcome to New York.
Giselle: Thank you.

Prince Edward: I seek a beautiful girl.
Sewer Crew Guy: I-I'd like to find one of them too, you know?

Morgan Philip: You know they always say guys only have one thing on their mind.
Giselle: And what’s that?
Morgan Philip: I don't know. No one will tell me.

what the...?

Just 5 minutes ago, I had a friend come chat with me online, she was told to pass on a message from a mutual friend of ours (a guy).

Oooooookay.

After reading the message....

1st response: HUH? That was random.

2nd response: OMG! Don't tell me he thought I....OMG!

Still very blur.

I need chocolate.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who has been asking about my PM, maybe you were more curious than concerned, but thanks anyway. Thanks to all those who came and told me "It's worth the wait" in response to my PM which reads "waiting for someone to tell me it's worth the wait"

Maybe I should have constructed that phrase a little more specifically....

Huan Huan Ai

Just finished yet another Taiwanese idol drama, which puts me in my melancholic and contemplative mood again...

Being a Taiwanese idol drama, it obviously had a happy ending, unlike Korean dramas... Same main characters from Devil Beside You: Rainie Yang, Mike He and Kingone. Different story, but same love triangle, as you can already imagine... Prefer DBY over this new one (Huan Huan Ai) for a few reasons, main one being that in the former drama, the love triangle was very quickly resolved (i.e. Episode 2) while in the latter the sibling rivalry for the girl was stretched till 2 episodes before the end, and even after that the girl was still being fought for (you have to watch it to understand what I mean). If you didn't already realize from the previous sentences, I hate it when there are love triangles (and any other shapes) present, both in dramas and in reality. Somehow I think it would be so much easier to resolve it quickly, rather than dragging it on and on and on till everyone involved gets so tired. This, of course, excludes the pockets of the company which produces the drama, no love triangle means the drama is over before you even start liking it. Unless they add in other factors like death, parental objection, LOTS of misunderstandings, etc etc.

For me, I would much rather have the girl (usually) in the triangle quickly pick who is it she likes, and have the couple face other problems together, than watch as the guys fight for the girl who has no idea who to pick and make it go on forever. The extreme dislike for love triangles can also be attributed to personal experience and watching friends suffer in such triangles (rectangles, hexagons, a straight line even) in real life...

That's about it for me ranting on love triangles. Anyone stuck in a love triangle or a shape of some sort, here's some "advice" for making a decision, which I have gleaned from years of reading and watching dramas, as well as personal experience. WARNING: I'm not to be held responsible for any repercussions from taking my advice, unless you got a happy ending and wish to thank me, in which case chocolate is most welcome...

1. Weight out the good and bad points of both parties being considered, make a decision based on that score sheet. (from Sweet Valley series, they usually choose against the score sheet though...)
2. Toss a coin (from Batman - the one with Twoface, make sure your coin doesn't fall through the drain or end up not landing on either side)
3. Bring them to a water maze (mi gong/ 迷宫) and have them walk towards you (from Magicians of Love. word of advice, don't wear a white shirt when doing this, girls)
4. Ask your best friends (personal experience, about a 80% success rate?)
5. Ask your mum (personal experience, almost 100% success rate)
6. Ask your teacher (personal experience, 0% success rate but it's here as a private joke)
7. Choose neither (from Mia in Princess Diaries, who seemed to learn it from Baywatch)
8. Put them through the Boyfriend test (from Sabrina the Teenage Witch)
9. Choose the one you argue with, not the one you fall for at first sight (from....almost every show?)

P.S. Having some random Malaysian number calling me late at night... Twice at 2 am and one just now... It's always a misscall, and when I call the number the person picks up but says nothing... WHAT.THE.HELL. Anyone know this number: 0177225731? Please tell me if you know who it is. Meanwhile I'll be sharpening the tools I have in the house...

I Am Cow (okay, not really)

Oddly, this song brings me back to my Convent days....

I am cow, hear me moo
I weigh twice as much as you
And I look good on the barbecue
Yogurt, curd, cream cheese and butters
Made from liquid from my udders
I am cow, I am cow, hear me moo (moo)

I am cow, eating grass
Methane gas comes out my ass
And out my muzzle when I belch
Oh, the ozone layer is thinner
From the outcome of my dinner
I am cow, I am cow, Ive got gas

I am cow, here I stand
Far and wide upon this land
And I am living everywhere
From b.c. to newfoundland
You can squeeze my teats by hand
I am cow, I am cow, I am cow
I am cow, I am cow, I am cow!

birthday birthday!

How many people can say their birthday falls on 7-11 day?! Well, for me there's only one I know, who turns 19 today!!

Esther Tan a.k.a. Hairless Baby (full name: 没有头发的大头baby) turns 19 today in Sydney!

5 things to know about Esther Tan:
1) A future doctor currently in her first year in UNSW.
2) She's REALLY tall!! You'll have to ask her for exact height. All I can say is she beat every guy on SAM Corroboree Night.
3) Probably the girl who enjoys taking pictures with friends the most, sometimes at the randomest of times and the randomest of places.
4) Cheerful and kind hearted girl who never fails to notice that you're down and lift your spirits up!
5) Her blog never fails to mention the birthday of any one of her friends!

Here's my birthday greeting ---> Xin's Birthday

How can I not return the favour??

Here's wishing this dear girl an awesome birthday, which I'm sure she will have (and take lots of pictures of) to celebrate this day of hers!

Some of the results of our "cam-whoring"

At SAM Corroboree

Same event, but different place. This was in the toilet (told you we had random places)

One of the first few pictures we had together. This was "10 very stressed people (cept andrew) wears pink day"

Miss ya loads gal!

yay yay yay! joyness!

WHEEE!!! Exams are over! I may sound over-enthusiastic announcing this, but I'm only able to do this online, because I'm too physically tired to be happy about it. Only thing I did was take a picture with the Monash gang after the exams to commemorate the moment, CJ has the pictures so it'll probably be up on her blog soon. And due to my laptop's tantrum a few weeks back, I don't have her blog address anymore... Will put it up when I get it, I pwomise...

Came home all exhausted and was greeted with a whole bunch of seniors in the foyer waiting to welcome me home after the long battle I was in. Just kidding! Everyone was there to meet up and go as a group to 7-11 since it was 7-11 day. Imagine a whole group of students just showing up in our friendly neighbourhood store and shouting out "Happy 7-11 Day!!" to the guy on shift, lol! The guy looked so tired and just greeted us with a "get your free small slurpee over there" while waving in the general direction of the slurpee machine. poor guy has seen so many people come in just for that freebie, without buying anything...

Hmmm exams are over, how am I celebrating, you ask? Well, sleep's first on the list. (duh!) and I decided to pamper myself with chocolates, cheese and snacks picked up from Safeway along with next month's issue of COSMO to read while I paint my nails. LOL! Just realised how lame my way of pampering myself sounds... Oooo, and I can finally catch up on Heroes! Lots to catch up on since I didn't even watch Season 1, but got hooked when Krista started watching them, when I was supposed to study!!

Smart me decided to reward myself for 2 weeks of non-stop revision and cramming by.....getting a job. Gonna pop my career cherry tomorrow, as I will be working on campus helping out with this research that my Epidemiology lecturer is carrying out. Basically my job requires me to stuff surveys into envelopes to be sent out. Sounds boring no? Well, the fact that it pays $21.85 an hour and I'll be working for 2 days * 6 hours per day was the deciding factor in applying for the job. As Jerry Maguire puts it, "SHOW ME THE MONEY!!"

Alright, that's it for today, Little Miss Exams Are Over has to go pamper her poor overworked body and mind now...

P.S. Was using Jia Pei's laptop just now and saw that she had my blog placed in her Bookmarks Toolbar on her Internet Explorer page... Feel so happy that someone actually reads my blog enough to place it there (I would think that means she reads it quite often) It made my day, so when you see this JP, muacks!!

HAPPY 7-11 DAY!!

Sunday, November 04, 2007

exams exams exams

So tired of studying now.
Not only physically (6 hours of sleep a day, a marked reduction for me) but mentally, emotionally.
I don't want to fail.
I don't want to have to repeat the unit.
I don't want to have that F sign ever.
I don't want to have to explain to people why I am doing a 1st year subject in 2nd year.

Most of all, I really don't want to let my parents down.

Don't get me wrong, this is not some ploy to get sympathy from my parents (who both read my blog and call me to comment on it). I honestly don't want to see that look of disappointment cross their faces. Ever.

Suddenly the memory of Dad flying back to Malaysia last year for my Open Day in Taylor's last year comes to mind. Obviously every parent is more than concerned over the academic performance of their offspring, but having your Dad dump all his work, and board an 8-hour flight to come home and attend a meeting with his daughter's lecturers? You don't get that very often, if ever. And I don't ever want to have a repeat of that incident.

Which means doing well for my exams.

The phrase "easier said than done" is most definitely an understatement here.

Feel like just throwing all my stuff out the window. All my notes, my textbooks, my handwritten notes, everything just flung out the window, a fluttering of papers of all kinds before they all land on the cold wet pavement, the water quickly making its way into the fibres of the paper and smudging my words into a chaotic jumble that matches the state of my mind now.

Sorry Mum and Dad, just want to rant.

I'll be fine, I think.

4 days and anxiously counting....

Is it too late to start finding a god to pray too?

let the pics do the talking

Study study study. Been in library. Again. Was great this morning, but it became too packed in the afternoon, everyone hiding from the sun today? (29 degrees out, yay!)
My notes and notebook

My notes. Have been getting compliments about my handwriting. Robyn, my Physiology tutor says my "skills" are wasted in Pharmacy, lol!

Everytime I'm chatting with friends online, and mention I have to go and open "shop", I always get a line something like "you have a shop in college?"
Sorry guys, no fancy place. It's just a shift I have for 15 minutes manning a hole in the wall in the Junior Common Room in IH.
Lots of customers at 7.30 pm and 9.45 pm daily coz we sell stuff cheaper than stores outside! Soft drinks, chips, Shapes, chocolate, Red Bull, MeeG, even ping pong balls!
Junior Common Room (JCR for short)

Inside the JCR. That's SHOP on the right.

Dom buying necessities from SHOP (read: MeeG)

Me and Mr. SHOP a.k.a James Downing, my soon-to-be-housemate (hopefully) in New Building!

Guess who climbed on top of a fridge and decorated the white board? ME!

James with Frances, who helps stock SHOP!

Halloween! As I am typing this now, the party downstairs has probably just ended. Or moved somewhere else. Didn't go for it, gotta STUDY!! Did sneak down for a peek though...
Marissa and Jia Pei all dressed up.

A lifeguard, a Runaway bride, a construction worker and a professional makeup artist!

Been walking through Trinity College (another residential college) on my way back from the library, everything is in full bloom there, which makes my walk so much more interesting =)

Rose bushes with blooms of every colour you can't think of! No black though, sorry Fang.

Rose up close. So pretty!!

Poppies! Love how red they are, and the contrast with it's black center.

Buildings in Trinity college.

Random statue (?) in Trinity
