first week of class doesnt count as class?

Am currently in a state of mixed joy and sorrow upon being back in IH. Happy because I'm back in a place I almost kinda call home now, surrounded by friends whom I've not seen for 3 months....and a lot of freshers, whom I hope to get to know soon. The downside of this is that class has (unfortunately) started for me. Despite the claims by Adrian and the rest of the seniors in IH who have yet to start class (that the 1st week of class isn't really class), I fear I will have to start studying now, especially after a 4-hour day yesterday which left me very sleepy and afraid of what looms ahead if I can't even understand the first lecture of the subject. Hmm.

Have moved into (yet) another room in IH, this current one situated in the oldest building here, Greycourt (it's not actually grey, unless you count the mood of the interior). A bigger room than before, which is kind of divided into 2 sections, one being the personal space and the other a great big empty space with my cupboard being sole occupant. Hope to make it more homely, and maybe get a poster to cover up the long crack in the wall (spanning from ceiling to floor behind my bed).

Lectures lectures lectures. Ugh. Only things I look forward to when going to class is seeing my friends in Monash and my new British lecturer (no, he's not gorgeous, Stef) and his British accents. Which I love. A lot.

Oh, and I missed my first class of the year. It was an accident, I swear! Seriously, a change in timetable the DAY BEFORE class starts? That's cruel! Plus it was an 8.30 class, the only class of the day too! Both these reasons goes to explain why only half the class turned up on Monday.

Will post pictures of my new room when I spruce it up a little, so Mum won't be weeping thinking about her poor suffering daughter. Just kidding about the Mum part.

Tuesday afternoon. Xin is taking a nap after an exhausting day in class and much unpacking after.

*telephone rings*
Xin: (very groggily) Hello?
Unknown Lady: Hi, is this the ultrasound department of Royal Women's Hospital?
Xin: .......................?!

valentine's day

Happy Valentine's Day to anyone who likes this day, and Happy Normal Day to those who don't! Today was my best Valentine's Day, even if I didn't spend it with someone I "like" because I got to spend it with 2 girls instead, Celine (whom I'm calling pika-pika CHU from now on) and Jillian (whom we kidnapped from the Sony store) in Plaza Pelangi. Plus, it's my first V day out, and I didn't get a "pity present" from my roommates. YAY! Made a big boo-boo and left my phone at the table in the Sony store and got tricked by Jillian's colleague. *blush*

Thanks to Guardian which had "Valentine" by Martina McBride playing over and over and over and over again, I'm boycotting love songs for today.

Am looking for instrumental songs, like those you hear in quaint coffee houses. Example:
Hikaru Utada Works - Relaxing Orgel - Letters. Help anyone?

I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon. ~Author Unknown

CNY pictures

Daddy, Uncle Kok Hoong (my suk-suk) and Grandpa. First Day of CNY at house of Unknown Relative #1

2nd Day of CNY. Lunch at Midvalley Gardens. Wei browsing through the menu very very seriously.

Rare: picture of Wei and Kit.

Less rare: Picture of Mum and I.

I spy with my hollow-bamboo-bill-holder doesn't quite have the ring to it...

FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

Kai Vin and I. One of my very few non-camera shy relatives.

Kit contemplates a career in drumming.

Shaun, the non camera shy one, and Jay, the camera shy one.

The "kids'" table.

The adults' table

3 minute heat?

Spending my day looking at charm tutorials on deviantART and comtemplating trying my hand at it. Though I probably won't get anything done and end up spending a wad of cash on absolutely nothing, or it will end up being mum's project since she usually ends up doing it for me as not to waste what we bought. Any new ideas I have for hobbies is met with Mum shaking her head and asking if I'm sure I will complete one project at the very least. "你这种三分钟热度的人, 会做完吗?" she'll say.

三分钟热度 (san fen zhong re du) directly translated means: three minute heat.

Anyone going "WTF?!" That was kinda my reaction when I first heard Mum saying it.

After years of hearing the phrase from my mum, I would say it refers to someone who loses interest in something very easily. For me it's only my hobbies, thank God. I actually have a cupboard full of my unfinished projects. Cross stitch, friendship bands, colouful straws, some weird stitching project, beads, you name it, I've probably un-finished it. I'm surprised this blog is still alive after 3 years, actually.

Hmmmm, maybe I'm not such a hopeless case after all. Now, about those charms...

This is the one tha got me interested in charm-making: HERE!

CNY and more

Hey hey, happy chinese new year everyone! Just gotten back from KL yesterday afternoon, and I swear I've gained at least 2kg from all the rich food I've had over the past few days. Hope you all had a CNY as good as I did! Missed last year's CNY celebration due to orientation in Melb so I made sure I enjoyed every minute of this year's celebration. One thing I couldn't stand was the weather though. Every single year, it would be sweltering hot on the 1st day of CNY, which is when we go around visiting all our relatives (whom I don't know the names of and only remember by how their house looks like and what snacks they offer us there). Ugh.

Flying home in a week! Which means I will have to start packing my stuff soon. My bright green suitcase is dreading the moment too, since I always have to get someone to sit on it so I can close the damn thing after I've packed it.

Valentine's Day is around the corner too. Good Lord. If not for Celine I would be popping a few sleeping pills and sleeping the day away so I wouldn't have to face all the smug couples rubbing their blissfully happy faces in my face. Even Mum would be getting flowers from Dad (if he remembered to order them).

Actually was writing up a post about V-day and my top 10 movies to watch on the day of romance, but it's unfinished since I went up to KL the next day and didn't get to use the internet there, and I really can't be bothered to continue writing, since it means going over what I've already written and finding fault with every word, which leaves me annoyed and makes me go vent my frustrations on Kit, which gets me nagged at from Mum for not treating him better, which gets me even more frustrated....you get the point.

Pictures from God-knows-when are currently being uploaded, which means it'll be a while before I post them here. Not many good ones I'm afraid, it seems all my relatives are either camera-shy or too hyper to sit still and let me take a picture.

7 days and counting....

This post is going out to my brother who just won the team event at a Scrabble competition in University Malaya.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

*sobs* So proud of my brother.

Boy, now everyone's going to forget the fact that you were so blur you left your phone in Koo Ma's car.

Spend that prize money on something good! A Nintendo DS maybe?

what is wrong with my blog?

Hopefully I am the only one experiencing this problem when accessing my blog...

I can't be bothered changing it again....
