house + gossip girl

House is great in helping me study, somehow I just manage to study better and concentrate longer with House on. Hmmm. How odd. Finished Season 1 and 2 in less than a week, which means no more House episodes to help me through Swotvac. Arghhhhhh!!! Need to get my hands on the last few episodes of Season 4. Or get hooked onto another show. Suggestions?

One clue I'm actually learning something in my course: I'm actually understanding more of the House episodes now, and knowing more of the conditions House is talking about!

Note: Conditions they love to mention - LUPUS, MS, or a tumour somewhere.

Wheee, feels so smart when I watch House in front of other non-Pharmacy people. They know who they are ;)

Wilson: That smugness of yours is really an attractive quality.

House: Thank you. It was either that or get my hair highlighted. Smugness is easier to maintain.

Gossip Girl, on the other hand.

Well, it doesn't help me study, but it helps me de-stress! And check out awesome fashion pieces which I don't have the money for at the moment, but will have if I strive hard and get a good job! Hence it helps me study in a way. Lol. Anything to justify watching my shows.

Nate: She's right Serena, I mean none of us are saints.
Blair: [points at Chuck] Yeah, I had sex with him in the back of a limo.
Chuck: Several times.
Nate: I had sex with you, at a wedding while I was her date. [looks at Chuck] Once.
Blair: [looks at Chuck]
Chuck: I'm Chuck Bass!

PRACTICAL TESTS TOMORROW!!! I need more HOUSE!

Or more Gossip Girl.

Detoxing is so hard.

injustice

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

To those who don't understand Chinese: The pictures are basically describing the differences between the characters of people with different blood types. Being of blood type A I'm supposedly the sort of person who has strong opinions about things, but do not say it out loud, preferring to only bitch to people but not do anything about it. Hence my wanting to do something to be heard about regarding this issue definitely goes to show how unfair the whole matter is to people like me.

Refer to ChuJie's post and XinNee's May 14th post for details.

In a nutshell, the story goes like this:

We've been having problems with the noise level during lectures, and have been warned many times regarding the issue by various lecturers. As of a month ago, a new rule was set, where students who were found disrupting the proceedings of class would be asked to leave, and will have to answer to the Deputy Dean regarding his/her actions. Yet this did nothing to reduce the level of noise in class.

Then, the incident happened. A group of girls started making noise during a lecture presented by a rural pharmacist (who is part of the university) and a guest speaker, making the environment not conducive to listening to the lecture. After several warnings a girl is asked to leave the class. And all was well, or so we thought...

The next morning, we receive a reprimand from the Deputy Dean. Fair enough, we thought. BUT then we ALL get blamed, including the students who have never made noise in class, and were the VICTIMS of the noise-making actions of the selected few students.

If that wasn't enough, we received an email asking us to sign a letter of apology to be handed to the guest speaker, even though most of us wasnt in the wrong.

Many points I do not agree with:
1. Even though the people responsible for the noise could not be identified, treating it as if EVERYONE is in the wrong is plain...well, wrong. Not only are we (the quiet ones) affected when the others make noise, but to be grouped with them and scolded as if we, too, made the mistake? I think not.
2. Having everyone sign the letter of apology. Of course, this would appease the guest speaker who might have been offended by the lack of professionalism of some of us, but to make us (the quiet ones) sign it would mean we are admitting to a mistake we DID NOT make. Moreover, the girl who was evicted was asked to be in charge of the letter, and she DID NOT even turn up to handle the letter, or apologise for causing the incident. This goes to show that she does not show remorse over the situation, and is just handing out the letter to be signed just because she was asked to, yet she expects us to sign the letter to help her? I'm sorry, but no. Ironically, the friends she asked to help her with announcing the need to sign the letter were talking all through the 3 lectures we had after the announcement. Amazing.
3. The note posted on our student portal by another lecturer regarding the issue blamed us all for the mistake, including the quiet ones as "who sat by and did nothing share some measure of responsibility for the unhappy attention this class is now receiving". What were we to do? Stand up while the lecturer was speaking and ask the rest to keep quiet? Not only would that further contribute to the noise level and disrupt the class, it would also have shown disrespect to the lecturer speaking in front. Basically it was a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.

It's greatly disappointing to see the lack of tact among the students, but also the poor way of handling by the administration regarding the issue. Not only does it not solve the problem (ie EVEN more people are talking now), it also has caused the innocent students to feel neglected and upset about the injustice of it all.

this can only happen in malaysia

Woman mistook naked thief for husband

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - A Malaysian woman woke up to a real-life nightmare, discovering that the naked man who had slipped into her bed in the middle of the night was a thief, not her husband, a newspaper said on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old housewife was asleep when the thief, noticing that her husband was fast asleep on the couch, quietly stripped off and lay down beside her, the Star newspaper said, quoting a police report filed in the eastern state of Terengganu.

The dozing woman's suspicions were raised when she spoke to him and his voice sounded strange, the paper said.

"She then went to another room and found her husband fast asleep on the couch. That's when she screamed, causing the thief to flee by leaping out the window together with the stolen items," it added.

annoying

Birthday Wish: To have more PATIENCE to deal with the inconsiderate fools I have in class.

To the guy who so un-bashfully planted himself in my already formed group of 6 and refused to leave, forcing my friend to move to another group, just because you talk a lot doesnt lead us to think you know your stuff. Just because we answer your questions about our life doesnt mean we don't know you're just being friendly so you can copy our answers when you havent done your work and that you're just too lazy to do it on your own. seriously. if you spent all that energy you have for talking in class and asking nonsensical questions to the lecturers, you might actually be able to do your work ON YOUR OWN!

how can someone be THAT thick-skinned I will never understand...

another birthday past

19 years and 5 days old, and still i feel more like an 18-year-old than a 19-year-old. definitely not feeling older or more mature, unless you count me being too tired to want to celebrate my birthday. hmmm...

still, many thanks to everyone who sent me their best of wishes on my birthday, even now i'm still collecting the wishes, thanks to Michael who wished me at lunch today! lots of hugs and kisses for everyone who remembered!

Noted thank you's:
those who surprised me in my room last Saturday: the big 4 (boom, gary, liwen, han) along with su, krista, sulfya, luke, KK and most importantly jackee who had to come up with lots of bullshit crapping to get me to stay in the room.

my monash friends who all managed to wish me in that few minutes i appeared in the cafeteria on Thursday, esp Jeremy Kush and Wii who came to IH to pass me my present (which DongHong also chipped in for)

my beloved BFFs, who havent forgotten me despite being miles away from me... thanks to tasha who left a very sweet and sappy and slightly hoarse voicemail on my phone, to weiyi who tried to call me at midnight (but didnt succeed since i forgot my phone), fangi who sent a card all the way from NZ complete with a pair of awesome earrings. to steph, who actually surfaced from wherever she was hiding to send me an email. also not forgetting celine (whom i have yet to meet up with!!), desiree, lyn, jayne and mel! oh, and sarah who sent me a groovy hand-made card!

last but not least, my family! esp dad who miss called me 11 times that night trying to get me! and mum, who sent a care package (full of colour pens and accessories) before my birthday came around. not forgetting my 2 brothers, who "supposedly" remembered my birthday without mum reminding them.

and everyone else whom i have not managed to mention in this post. all your wishes will be remembered and cherished :)

xoxo
Xin

What If - Lene Marlin

What if I don't wanna move one
If I like it as it is
Wanna keep it like this, for a while...forever
Just let me lie close to you
Don't wanna let you go, don't wanna let you go

If I said I want you, id I said I need you
If I said I love you, whar would you do
If I said I want you, if I said I need you
If I said I love you, what would you do

What if I don't wanna forget
Don't want anyone but you
Believe me, it's true, for a while...forever
Just let me stay here with you
I don't wanna leave, I don't wanna leave

If I said I want you, id I said I need you
If I said I love you, whar would you do
If I said I want you, if I said I need you
If I said I love you, what would you do

And I thought I could, let this go
I thought I would, but now I know
Now I know...

If I said I want you, id I said I need you
If I said I love you, whar would you do
If I said I want you, if I said I need you
If I said I love you, what would you do
