happy birthday mummy!

and another year has passed and it's time for mum's birthday again! this is the 3rd birthday she's had to spend without me, and for the first time without xinwei too, so i bet she's awfully lonely.... wonder when we can have a complete gathering for her birthday...

here's to my awesome mother, who's worked tirelessly these 19 years to raise 3 awesome children and manage a household all by herself (okay, dad helped sometimes XD)

been trying to call her all day, but my call doesnt seem to go through...you Malaysians all calling each other non-stop or what?! Let me call my mum!!!

been a bum and decided not to celebrate merdeka today. did get pressured to go clubbing last night, but i declined seeing as the entrance fee was a good $30 bucks (that's lunch money for a week!) and i think it's a lame excuse to use to get wasted. Not to mention it would have been really odd for me to get wasted celebrating what is also my Mum's birthday. So me being a good girl stayed at home and studied Partitioning. LOL! Aren't you proud Mummy?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY!!

I would love to put up a picture of the 2 of us, but my hard drive crashed on me so all my pictures are gone *sobs!*

Love you loads mum. Wish I could be there with you...

P.S Did you get my card?

P.P.S Did Kit do anything for your birthday?

And now for a song dedicated to my mum, who hopes to be:

Forever Young by Alphaville

Lets dance in style, lets dance for a while
Heaven can wait were only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you going to drop the bomb or not?

Let us die young or let us live forever
We don't have the power but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The musics for the sad men

Can you imagine when this race is won
Turn our golden faces into the sun
Praising our leaders were getting in tune
The musics played by the madmen

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever, forever and ever

Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
Why don't they stay young

Its so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading horse
Youth is like diamonds in the sun
And diamonds are forever

So many adventures couldn't happen today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams are swinging out of the blue
We let them come true

P.P.S Happy Birthday Malaysia. Though you pale in comparison to my mum.

internet

using the awesome internet here in uni again XD i swear it's the only reason i come to the uni library for....

notice how i tend to blog more when i'm in the uni library? it's all thanks to the unlimited internet here! i get to do so much more interesting stuff here!! not that i don't do interesting stuff at home, i just can't tell you guys about it ;) JUST KIDDING MUM!
so yeah, i can have so much fun with the internet here and not have to worry about my quota running out and having to go buy more from the office, and hence avoid situations like this.....

Xin goes to the office to get internet
Xin: Hey Chloe, can I get more internet data?
Chloe: No problem! What's your room number?
Xin: Oh, GC 28 (takes a while to remember her room because she's so rarely there)
Chloe: Oh, right! I'm so sorry, having to always ask you for it, I should really remember your room by now!!
Xin: ..........
Chloe: Right, so how much data do you want? I'm charging it to your account right?

...Yes, that actually happened. She wasn't being sarcastic or anything but I was just like =.=

ANYWAYYYYYYY... Things I am currently doing with the internet:
1. Streaming "Smiling Pasta" to watch
2. Catching up on communitychannel videos to watch
3. Checking Deviantart, the major contributor to my loss of internet
4. Checking up on blogs. People with music embedded, may you one day suffer my fate and have limited quota!! Grrrr.
5. Browsing Etsy.com for stuff I would love to buy and might have the money to buy but will never end up buying.
6. Facebooking. Duh.
7. Googling Tudor history. Again. That Jonathan Rhys Meyer got me hooked.
8. Using Web Messenger. Fangi is not online for once...
and many more fleeting sites...

Funny and mostly true video on the different ways men and women take their shower. The girl's part is mostly true! Cept for the cleaning up after the shower, because I'm a lazy bum and I don't do that. And the adjusting breasts part. What breasts? LOL

For an eye-opening gallery of miniatures for sale... Especially the Miniature Chinese BBQ stall!! Love the scallions.

Facebook Word Challenge. Brought to you by the same guys who did the Biggest Brain application. My new hobby. Though I suck. 77000+++ points? You have got to be mad! Or cheating. *stares guy down*

Someone took my iPod to listen to on the way to class *cough* Pangsai *cough* so I have no music to listen to when doing my work! Hence Imeem comes in handy. Zhang Dong Liang, my artist of the month thanks to the drama and his cute smile :)

And that's it! 5.45 now so I'm being chased out :(

update

Been really busy these few weeks, especially after the Melb Uni people got back from their winter holidays... This weekend, hopefully is the climax for the ongoing chaos, with Beijing Olympics Opening Night on Friday, National Night last night, GM tonight, not to mention a week full of lab sessions in uni and squeezing in some time to catch up with friends...

Beijing Olympics: Got "chosen" to be in charge of the Opening Ceremony showing in JCR Friday night. Big thanks to Daniel Higgins who helped me, who was hopelessly clueless at the technical terms the guys were throwing around... Came back from labs Friday evening and everything was set up!! He even came back at 2 am to keep the stuff, which was the condition we had to abide by for House to lend us the plasma TV. Awesome ceremony! Did not expect it at all, I was expecting to be bored out of my mind watching... Favourite has got to be the huge scroll unravelling and showing the inventions of the Chinese, and the dancers who started painting on the paper while dancing. Not forgetting the torch-lighting part, of course. Parade of nations was definitely the dullest moment (or many moments), towards the end a few of us were just cheering everytime the number of strokes increased. (Malaysia had 3 strokes in the first character, hence it came out way early. Poor Australia had 15.)

National Night: Mexico this time... Unfortunately I didnt manage to watch anything since I was working in the wash-up area all night... At least there's Niro to accompany me, the two of us bitching about everything!! Did manage to see my head of college trot on stage and dance to "Gasolina" with the students, THREE times!! Took a quick shower and headed to Adrian, Ling and Heng Lin's apartment to hang out for a while with them and the ex-IHers who turned up for NN - PatTan, Kimmy, Chandran as well as Darren, Chun Peng, Adrian's sister Joanna (visiting for 2 weeks!), Yingyi, Steph and Grace. Watched Olympics while having some apple cocktail courtesy of Adrian and Grace. No Malaysians competing in any sport we watched, though the Singaporeans got to cheer on Tao Li as she came in first in heats for swimming... Not even true Singaporean!! Hmph. Went down to JCR for the After-party, which was pretty empty. Free drinks are awesome! Hate the Asian flush, one Baileys and milk and I looked like a cherry. No offence to cherries. Or Cherry Tan. Sat around chatting since there wasn't anything else I can do eg. dance or flirt. Got too bored and went back up to the apartment to watch more Olympics... Volleyball!! Oh and I so do not get equestrian dressage, where they're just walking the horse around and around the field..... Like gymnastics but even more ambiguous.

GM: Affectionate term for General Meeting, which isnt very well liked by students since it means 2 hours of sitting and listening to the Student Club Executive Committee report what they have been doing, without any electronic device to help pass time along. Used to grumble about it as a student sitting there, but now that I'm on the other side of the table I've realised how our "suffering” is so insignificant compared to the committee, who spend around 2 weeks preparing for the meeting. Namely me, since announcements regarding the meeting have to be up 2 weeks prior or it would be UNCONSTITUTIONAL (scariest word for me, the Secretary). Hopefully this meeting would be short, since I'm having a floor supper right after, not to mention I have to type the minutes up.... Minutes usually come up to 7 pages, so you can imagine how much stuff we cover... 2 GMs to go before my term is up, am counting down the days already...

That's my big update for the week? Month? Will try to blog when I'm free, though that might be a while, seeing how my schedule is... Less chaotic, but still not as free as them Arts students.

No offence to Arts students.

this is my time - raven symone

Oh,
At times I felt like I had lost my self
Cuz people try to make you someone else
I had to learn to trust my heart
So things can change

I came to a point
Where I can speak my mind
And not feel
I'm living in a box
To keep the girl I am concealed
Oh
I finally found the strength so I can
Leave that all behind

This is my time, to shine
This is my place to find
All that I have inside
I never knew

This is my time to show
What I must have always known
That nothings impossible
And dreams come true

Everybody's got the strength inside
All it takes is time to realize
That you and only you
Can be the one to decide

I can, I will, I know that everything I want
I can do
Believing in my self
Then every wish I make will come true

Oh,
It took a while to get this far
But I'm here now

This is my time, to shine
This is my place to find
All that I have inside
I never knew

This is my time to show
What I must have always known
That nothings impossible
And dreams come true

Overcoming all these things
Here I finally found my wings
Now I know I'm ready to fly........
