updates yet again!

1. NEW APARTMENT
Almost everything is in order now, fridge is full functional and storing my awesome cheeses. Still havent gotten my dresser and bedside table, though my textbooks are finally being used to house my bedside lamp. Had to return the lamp since your truly, being into the colour red now. bought a red lamp without considering that if the lamp shade is red, the light it emits would be red too. Like red-light district red. I was surprised no balding men with a beer tummy came knocking on the apartment door holding a wad of 20s, but I'm not complaining. So now I have a plain white one, which ironically is brighter than my desk lamp.

Finally got throught to Telstra and got a phone line, but it doesnt seem to be working, perhaps due to the lack of a adaptor, seeing as the port in the apartment seems more like a LAN cable port than a phone line port. Bako is trying to find us an adaptor ASAP, for without it we can't use our phone to get our landline number, which in turn means we can't get internet! Which means I spend A LOT of time after and in between classes in the uni computer lab.

New apartment = increased travelling time too! Been calling mum real often nowadays since I'm always on the tram going to uni. Not so much back from uni since I always have the lovely CJ and Jeremy with me (who is thankfully less emo these days). Credit's running out!! Though it's good to hear Mum's voice all the time XD Am trying to convince her to come for winter....

Hopefully everything will fall into place soon and we can have our housewarming :) How else are we going to get presents?! Other than our birthdays, or when our boyfriends do something wrong, I guess...

2. NEW JOB
Starting officially this Thursday. Like I told Zach, KK's new housemate, the nervous feeling of starting a new job has kind of dissappeared, seeing as I've already been there 4 times and already know the people there, who are real nice and friendly :) Plus I've kind of seen how things work there and it shouldn't be a problem. Of course, I'm still excited, it is my first proper job after all! Note-taking is a job, but it doesn't feel like one since I usually take notes for lectures I have had or am going to have, so it's revision for me too, plus the hours aren't set. The closest I ever came to having a real proper job is probably that 3-day stint at Action City where I promptly quit before they could sign me on for a full month of standing on my feet 11 hours a day. I'll like the point out I was awesome at that job! So much so the boss still remembers me, and my full name. Heh.

Official title for my new job is as a STDUENT PHARMACIST, which means I'll the donning the white coat, and attending to customers and doing actual dispensing. Just like a real pharmacist, but with a lower pay and everything has to be checked by the actual pharmacist. Very very excited! I'm already dreaming about all the random stuff I can buy with my hard-earned money :) Like the Star Wars figurine of Yoda for Xinwei that I saw in Minotaur.

3. NEW YEAR IN UNI
As always, yours truly has vowed to attend all lectures all semester. Longest I lasted was 6 weeks? So I think it's going to work this time :) Less hours this year, due to the reduction of practicals and tutorials hours compared to 2nd year, but it's definitely tougher, with 6 units and the fact that everything we learned in 1st and 2nd year has flown out the window, making it harder for us to understand the lecture, instead having to spend time reading up our notes from past years before the lightbulb above our head finally lights up. I use the terms "our" and "us" because I have found out that it isnt only I that is in this position. Somehow it just makes me feel better that others are doing equally as terrible as me. Oops.

Next up: who are KK's new housemates? I'll be describing them in a later post, since their names should pop up quite often nowadays.

Does Hollywood have no original ideas left? Think about the recent movie releases and you'll know what I mean.

Which Gossip Girl Character would President Obama be?

From President Obama's Los Angeles Town Hall meeting (question and answer session)

"All right. It's a man's turn. I'm going to turn back here -- this
guy in the green shirt, right here. (Applause.) Everybody likes you,
man. Is he on like Gossip Girl, or something?"

That made my day. XD

P.S. Full transcript here at the White House Blog.

Yes, there is a blog for the White House.

It's in times like this....

that I need Sheldon's ramblings to cheer me up.

Raj: I'll tell you what, how about we go rock-paper-scissors?
Sheldon: Eww, I don't think so. Anecdotal evidence suggests that in the game of rock-paper-scissors, players familiar with each other tie 75-80% of the time due to the limited number of outcomes. I suggest "rock-paper-scissors-lizard-Spock"

Sheldon: It's very simple.

Scissors cuts paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitates lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock, and—as it always has—rock crushes scissors

Sheldon's smile never fails to cheer me up.

apartment update

Went to IKEA with Celine on Monday. Bloody Kk ffk-ed me because he WANTED TO SLEEP. I am such a good girlfriend for not castrating him right there and then, or after I came back, since jakun me who's never been to IKEA didn't know you had to get all the furniture you want and carry them to your trolley. IKEA is fun!! They have everything you need, plus random furniture/ home decorations you never know you needed. Like the froggy prince seat for kids. Wish I could do a Natalie Portman in Where The Heart Is, but in IKEA and not Wal-Mart. XDDDD

IKEA furniture came today :) Had fun putting them together while racing against time since the power has yet to come on and hence there was no light. Was trying to hang my clothes in my newly erected cupboard by the light of the sun setting. Farnee.

Internet connection sucks. Firstly, Celine and I can't even find the bloody port for the telephone! Oh dear....

Should be moving in by tomorrow, if power comes on and I have enough energy to hang/ fold the clothes lying on my bed right now...

New address: 1608/8 Franklin Street, 3000 VIC

That's Milano Apartments to Melbournians. The one next to Verve. Which is the building with the rock-climbing place on Swanston. Yeahhhhh, THAT one.

after a week back.....

Things I have realised since being back:
1. Living out of a suitcase ---> tres hard
2. I forgot how cold Melbourne can be when the wind blows, even if it's summer
3. The hair straightener in KK's apartment's bathroom actually belong to a guy and not the girl. Zach took them from his mother because he was using it more than she was.
4. Gin and Tonic is an awesome drink!
5. Tequila? Not so awesome.

Class starts tomorrow :(
