Week 8 and counting....

Somehow it's always the busiest time when my birthday is around the corner, what with a 20% assignment and a mid-sem test on the same day (1st May), and all the studying I have to start doing for the examinations.... Can't a girl be allowed to enjoy her birthday and the days leading up to it?

KK's got a ukulele from his apartment mates, which means I'm that much closer to my dream of being serenaded by a guy under my bedroom window. Other than the fact that he's tone deaf and can't sing and I live on the 16th floor. Apart from that, things are going good though. LOL! He's learning to play "Sweet Child of Mine" on the ukulele, while Aaron's learning Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven". I can play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and am currently trying to find the tabs to play "Love Story" by Taylor Swift since it's my new favourite song :) Sweetest song ever! Especially the last verse :D Music video's so romantic too! Other than the fact that the guy in the video's not very cute, but love his dressing though! It would be so much better if it were James McAvoy...sigh...

Classes are going well, and so is work, now that I've gotten used to having both. Makes me especially happy when the paycheck comes in. Which I am blowing on "Billy Elliot the Musical" tickets tonight! Wheee~

New address for those who don't know: 1608/8 Franklin St, Melbourne, VIC 3000

Think that's all for today... Check out the videos!

Love Story - Taylor Swift

We were both young when I first saw you.
I close my eyes and the flashback starts:
I'm standing there on a balcony in summer air.

See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns.
See you make your way through the crowd
and say hello;

Little did I know
That you were Romeo;
you were throwing pebbles,
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet."
And I was crying on the staircase,
begging you, 'Please, don't go.'"

And I said,"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run.
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes.'

"So I sneak out to the garden to see you.
We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew.
So close your eyes; escape this town for a little while.
'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter,
And my daddy said "Stay away from Juliet,"
But you were everything to me;
I was begging you, 'Please, don't go,'"

And I said,"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run.
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes.'

Romeo save me - they're tryin' to tell me how to feel;
This love is difficult, but it's real.
Don't be afraid; we'll make it out of this mess.
It's a love story - baby just say "Yes.'"

Oh, oh.

I got tired of waiting,
Wondering if you were ever comin' around.
My faith in you was fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town,

And I said,"Romeo save me - I've been feeling so alone.
I keep waiting for you but you never come.
Is this in thy head? I don't know what to think-"

He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said,
"Marry me, Juliet - you'll never have to be alone.
I love you and that's all I really know.
I talked to your dad - go pick out a white dress;
It's a love story - baby just say 'Yes.'

"Oh, oh. Oh, oh.'

Cause we were both young when I first saw you...

back from easter!

Oddly enough, first day back to class was not as bad as I thought. even with David Taylor's lecture and forgetting my Microbiology notes. maybe since I expected it to be soooo bad. maybe because I got a good solid 9 hours of sleep. It's a good thing anyway.

Almost got egg-ed yesterday while waiting for the bus after work. I say almost because the egg missed me completely and smashed into the bottom of the bench I was sitting on at the bus stop, leaving me unharmed except a slight stain complete with eggshells on a corner of my jumper. Hope that's the one and only time it happens.

Most interesting find today: A Wikipedia article on....zhacai, also known as the salty spicy thing mum gives us to have with our porridge at home. All I can say is OMG.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zha_cai <-- here's the page if you don't know what it is. Makes a good soup too!

More explanation here: http://makantime.com/ingredientguide/zhacai.htm

Any idea what I can make with 3 chicken breast fillets, one lemon and a pack of rocket?

Hope the rest of term goes as well as today went.

thank god for holidays

after 6 weeks of torture the holidays are finally here. granted, i'll have assignments to do, lectures to catch up on, work to go to, but at least there are no classes to go to. no new material to learn.

finding myself very tired everyday, which can be linked to my new job, as well as the fact that i'm getting ill every week due to the thermostat in the lecture theathre which DOES NOT WORK. 6 weeks of complains and still nothing is being done with it, even though we're paying tens of thousands to be provided with a conducive environment to study in. would skip class but lectopia (audio lectures) aren't working well either, due to the maintenance guy taking an early and prolonged Easter break (I have my sources). hopefully this break can provided me with much needed recuperation, so i can face the next 7 weeks of class.

on to happier things, i'm in the midst of packing for my mildura trip! lalalalala~~ not too sure what we're actually going to be doing there though, but hopefully it'll be fun! weather forecast for the week doesn't seem too bad, with temperatures actually hitting 30 degrees Celcius! the boys will be doing their boarding/skating/cycling while i hope to be sitting out on the grass laughing at them and enjoying a good book... mmmmmmm....

so, about kk's apartment mates:

aaron: also known as daddy thanks to his tendency to be the moral compass and lecture people, or have long talks with them whenever a misunderstanding or conflict arises. he's the current vice-president of student club in IH, and is better known as the person who guilt-tripped KK into staying in IH because he helped him so much with homework and exams and assignments over the year. just kidding. not really. aaron is chindian, with a lovely mauritian complex we like to tease him about, and enjoys tennis, boarding and studying. seriously.

zach: known to everyone as the guy with the most serious yellow fever ever encountered in the history of IH. has more korean songs and knows more about korean pop scene than actual koreans. is currenly dating kristina, an asian girl from malaysia who looks japanese when she ties her hair up into 2 side ponytails, which zach loves. zach hails from mildura, and also enjoys boarding. loves doing his statistics homework, anything korean/japanese, COFFEE and is an expert at imitating Chewbacca's sounds. loves starbucks as much as i do, hence our weekly saturday ritual to visit starbucks where he orders a venti latte/ cappucino with THREE shots of coffee and i have a grande signature hot chocolate with marshmallows.

jae: only female in the apartment, hence treated like a maid to clean up after the boys when she's actually in the apartment and not in kelly/mel/laurent's room (yes, she and her best friends' initials make up JKLM). jae's singaporean, which means she, too, has a tendency to wear short shorts even in the coldest of situations, while complaining how cold it is. favourite word is "sanks", which means THANKS. joins the boys when they're boarding with her rollerblades.

kk: my boyfriend, who enjoys behaving like a child (though he is very cute when he does it), and doesn't seem to have changed since he was an actual child (refer to baby pictures on FB for proof). enjoys boarding, lazying around, and generally anything that allows him to not do his assignments. is a better cook than me, and loves cooking fried rice for me when i'm hungry. is currently sporting a no. 2 haircut because he thought it was fun to shave his head again, and claimed he did it to raise funds for the leukemia foundation when he actually raised only 20 bucks (from me). is a hygiene freak, though he's okay with living in messes, as long as they are clean. loves fiddling around with stuff to discover how they work, and taking them apart without ever putting them back together again. may be more into soft toys than i am.

and that's the 4 of them making a very noisy and lively apartment, where there's always someone to chat to. is it any wonder why i love hanging out in their apartment?
